Albert Fuqua

Albert Fuqua was born on March 12, 1942, in Bentonia, Mississippi, to the late Eddie Fuqua and Louise Barnett Fuqua of Yazoo County. Raised in a loving household rooted in faith and community, Albert carried the warmth, strength, and integrity of his Mississippi heritage throughout his life. A dedicated farmer, he lived in Holly Bluff and later moved back to his roots in Bentonia, MS. He truly loved being outdoors; he found deep joy in working the land, planting his garden, working on lawnmowers, handiwork, and embracing nature. Along his journey, Albert met the love of his life, Eva Jennifer Collums, with whom he built a beautiful life.

On August 6, 2026, he peacefully transitioned from his earthly journey to his eternal resting place.

Albert leaves behind a rich legacy of devotion, laughter, and cherished memories. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Eddie and Louise Fuqua, and his brothers/Sister: Walter Berry, Silaslas W Fuqua, Eddie Fuqua Jr., Clarence Fuqua, Robert Berry, and Minnie Tennessee.

His memory will forever be treasured by the love of his life, Eva Jennifer Collum. Albert’s light continues to shine through his three children, Angela (Theodore) Ollie, Patricia (Darrell) Dobson of Flora, Mississippi, Jody Collum-California, and Amanzo (LaChanda) Demus of Yazoo City, Mississippi. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Shequita Griffin, Kiara Griffin, Tenisha (Rodderick) Stuts, Michael White Jr., Daryl (Blossom) Griffin, and Jody Tate, as well as a loving great-grandfather to seven great-grandchildren: Rodderick Stuts Jr., Londynn Stuts, Reniya Stuts, MaKiya Johnson, Jaheim Mason, Brayden, and Braylee.

Albert is also survived by his five sisters, Jenvea Lovell Fuqua, Laurina Fuqua Carter, Zola Mae Fuqua, and Minnie Fuqua Harrington, all of Bentonia, Mississippi, and Pauline Fuqua Aceres of California, along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and lifelong friends who will dearly miss his presence including Katherine Collum(Nookie) and Francine (Herman) Collum Brown.
