Mr. Charles Edward “Murray” McCoy was born toRufus “Biscuit” and Natalie “Keys” McCoy onSeptember 22, 1944 in Yazoo City, MS. He was the ninthof ten children born and affectionately named “Murray”;this, he was called by family and friends. Introduced to Christ as a child, Murray loved the Lord and enjoyedattending church. This radiated in the way he treatedothers. He possessed an enduring love for family andtruly met no strangers. If anyone had the pleasure ofmaking his acquaintance, they were considered his friend.Murray delighted in conversation and his front porch washome to an array of visitors daily. His ability to recall,from memory, the names of past and present people andeven details of events was remarkable. He attended Yazoo City Training school No. 2. Theteachers always loved him and understood hisneeds.If you stopped by to visit or blew your horn whilepassing by; if you gave a friendly wave along the way orcalled him for a little talk anytime night or day, you were,to him, his friend. Well-known throughout Yazoo City,you could mention his name, and everyone had a storyabout him. On Wednesday, September 27, 2017, Mr. CharlesEdward “Murray” McCoy yielded his spirit untoGod and entered into a place of eternal peace and rest.Murray’s priceless personality will forever be cherished byhis family: a devoted sister, Doretha (Roosevelt)Robinson; adopted brother, Billy (Barbara) Griffin ofGarner, NC; sisters-in-law, Rose McCoy of Broadview, IL,and Nancy McCoy of Indianapolis, IN, and a plethora ofnieces and nephews who dearly loved him, along withfamily and friends. Preceding him in death were hisparents, two (2) sisters, and six (6) brothers.
