Christella Marie Green Levison was born on August 28, 1930,
to Lonnie Green and Pallie Hatchett Green in Yazoo County,
Mississippi. Lonnie and Pallie had twelve children, six boys and
six girls. Two siblings died at childbirth.
Brothers, Daniel, David, Lonnie, and Alonza Green, and sisters,
Pecola, Hattie, Mattie, Sadie, and Golena all preceded her in
death.
Christella attended Yazoo County public school until the eleventh
grade. A er completing the eleventh grade, Christella moved to
Yazoo City, and enrolled at Saint Francis Catholic School ,where
she obtained her high school diploma in May of 1949. Christella
accepted Jesus Christ at an early age at Antioch Missionary Baptis
Church. A er her family moved to Satartia, she joined Rose Hill
Baptist Church. While attending high school at Saint Francia,
Christella joined the Catholic faith. During this time, she attended
Saint Francis Catholic Church.
On September 9, 1950, Christella entered into holy matrimony
with George Levison, Sr. To this union, six girls and three boys
were born. George Sr., George Jr., Ray Anthony, and daughter,
Edwina, preceded her in death.
In 1994, Christella reunited with Rose Hill Missionary Baptist
church where she served as a Mother until her health failed.
Christella leaves to cherish: her
ve daughters, Marilyn (Timothy)
Williams, Melissa Levison, Lillian King, and Debra and Katrina
Levison. Christella adopted her granddaughter, Christina Levison,
and raised her as her own child. Christella also raised her daughter
Edwina’s three children, Candace, Jimmy, and Jacolby, a er
Edwina’s death. Christella also leaves nineteen grandchildren and
twenty-two great-grandchildren.
On October 11, 2025, at 5:15 PM, at 95 years of age, I thanked the
Lord I was redeemed and washed in his blood.
