Ivory Jean Day

Ivory Jean Day, a beloved figure of love, kindness, and faith, passed away peacefully on

May 19, 2026. Born on September 22, 1947, in Vaughan, Mississippi, Ivory touched

many lives with her warmth and generosity.

A proud graduate of Linwood School, Ivory dedicated 30 years to Baptist Hospital,

where her compassion left a lasting impression. She was an active member of

Madvernize Baptist Church, leading the Usher Board and serving on the Mother Board,

inspiring many with her faith.

She was the daughter of the late Eugene Butler Sr. and Annie Lee Seaton and was

preceded in death by her parents, siblings Rosie Lee Harris, Annie Bell Coleman,

Eugene Butler Jr., Clemon Butler, Kenneth Butler, and Roosevelt Butler, sons Raymond

Butler and Willie Jerome Day, granddaughter LaTonya Goodrum, and great-grandsons

Cameron and Riese Goodrum. Despite these losses, she carried their memories with her

grace.

Ivory's legacy continues through her daughters, Wanda (Paul) Hudson and Gayla Day,

son Edwin (Linda) Butler, and sisters Beulah Spann and Eliza Butler. She was blessed

with 15 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and

friends.

Ivory will be remembered for her kindness and generosity, leaving a legacy of love

through her roles as mother, sister, grandmother, great-grandmother, auntie, friend, and

neighbor. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
