Mr. Larry Donald “Butter Ball” Day was born on September 13, 1956, in Yazoo City, Mississippi, to Priscilla Dortch Day and James Littleton. He peacefully departed this life on April 30, 2026, and entered his heavenly home. Larry graduated from Yazoo City High School in 1974 and attended Alcorn State University. He dedicated many years of service as a supervisor at Yazoo Industries for over 20 years before retiring from the Yazoo City prison system. Even after retirement, Larry remained hardworking and active, taking on various jobs throughout the community. On February 16, 1982, Larry married the love of his life, Bertha Stiff. Together, they built a loving family and shared 44 wonderful years of marriage. From this union came two sons, Larry Jr. and Darius, whom he loved deeply and guided with strength, wisdom, and care. Larry was preceded in death by his parents, James Littleton and Priscilla Dortch Day. He leaves to cherish his memory his devoted wife, Bertha Day; his two sons: Larry (Kashae) Day of Banning, California, and Darius (Jolesa) Day of Owasso, Oklahoma; and his five beloved granddaughters: Layla, Sanai, Naila, Jada, and Demi. He also leaves two brothers: John (Beverly) Dortch and Gregory (Mary) Dortch, both of Yazoo City; one niece, Katrina; two nephews, Gregory Jr. and John Jr.; his mother-inlaw, Milverta Stiff; extended brothers and sisters Joyce, Linda, Denise, Alice, Herman, and Danny Boddy; a dear friend, Warren Robinson; and a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.
