Marrion Earl "Jay" Nelson, Sr. was born to Mr. Columbus and Mrs. Inez Griffin Nelson in Yazoo County, MS. Marion recieved his early school education in Yazoo County and graduated from Yazoo City High School in 1971.

Jay recieved his Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Alcorn State University. His career consited of work at Ellisville State School and Yazoo City Public Schools. Through life's journey, Jay became disabled and could no longer pursue his longlife dream of becoming a teacher.

Jay married Mrs. Georgia Sturkin Nelson and into this union two sons were born. Jay's father, Columbus Nelson; his son, Marion Earl Nelson, Jr. and his brother, George Nelson preceded him death. Jay's memories will be cherished by his wife, Georgia; mlther, Mrs. Inez Nelson; his son, Keith Nelson; sister, Jacqueline Nelson King; brother, James Nelson; four grandchildren: Jazmine, Trey, Alexis, and Manysia; two nephews, two nieces, one uncle, three aunts, and a host of cousins and friends.

Jay loved the Lord and his life was enriched by the community which he embraced and loved.
