Melvin Eason was the fifth of fifteen children born to Jordan “Son” Eason, Jr. and Rosie L. Conner-Eason in Oak Forrest, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents and four siblings.
Melvin professed his hope in Christ at an early age at Mt. Moriah M.B. Church under the leadership of Rev. E. R. Gaines. Growing up on a farm, Melvin enjoyed his chores and playing with his siblings. He graduated from Lee High School in Marianna, AR.
At the age of 21, Melvin was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served honorably for two years. Following his discharge, he returned to Oak Forrest before moving to Chicago, IL. There, he met and married Dorothy Williams, and to this union, his pride and joy, their son Tramel (Kim), was born. The family later relocated to Yazoo City, MS, where Dorothy passed away.
Melvin eventually met and married Alice White. He worked for and retired from Barry Barns Lumber Company. Following a short illness, he passed away in Indianola, MS.
