Samuel “Sam” Raymond Wilkerson, Jr.

SAMUEL RAYMOND WILKERSON JR. was born on June 23, 1952, in Williamson, WV. He was called to his heavenly home on May 18, 2026, in Bentonia, MS. Sam accepted Christ at an early age and joined Shiloh Baptist Church in Huntington, WV. He was 73 years old. Samuel is survived by his wife, Annette Simmons-Wilkerson, and his children: Samuel, Terrica, and Cedric. Samuel was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Raymond Wilkerson Sr., and mother, Louise Elizabeth (Matthews), his sisters Elizabeth Louise Gates and Vera Wilkerson-Nelson. Sam proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps from July 1971 to June 1974 with honor and dedication and received the National Defense Service Medal. His service and sacrifice will always be remembered with gratitude and respect. “We thank him for his service.” Sam retired from Dallas Area Rapid Transit as a Public Transit Operator after serving for over 20 years. After he and his wife both retired, they relocated to Bentonia, MS. Sam was a fun-loving man with a big heart who never met a stranger, and he never missed a chance to make people laugh. His happiest moments were spending time with his granddaughter, Karleigh, and his 3 loyal dogs- Zeus, Angel, and Cookie. He also loved music, going to concerts with his wife, and satisfying his sweet tooth. (Karleigh can testify his most favorite sweet was M&Ms) Sam leaves to cherish his loving memories: sons - Samuel Wilkerson III (Brandie) of Forney, TX, Cedric Wilkerson of Grand Prairie, TX and daughter - Terrica (Alvin) Hill-Stribling; a sister Kathy Wilkerson of Huntington, WV; two brothers - Sherman (Desirea) Wilkerson of Huntington, WV and Freddie (Kay) Wilkerson of Huntington, WV; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
