On October 26, 1957, Sylvia Kay Brookins Wynne was born in Meridian,Mississippi to her mother Sylvia McGlothin Brookins and her father JosephBrookins, Sr. (who preceded her in death). She was the only daughter/sister of sixchildren: Joseph Brookins, Jr. (who preceded her in death), Cecil Brookins, RonaldBrookins, Kenneth Brookins and Virgil Brookins.Sylvia accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized into thefamily of God at an early age at Okatibbee M.B. Church in Meridian, Mississippi.In 1969, her parents moved their family to San Diego, California. In 1970, theyjoined New Hope Friendship M.B. Church in San Diego, California.Sylvia graduated from Samuel F.B. Morse High School in San Diego. She laterreceived a degree in Theology from the New Foundation Theological Seminary.On September 16, 1989, Sylvia was united in holy matrimony to Robert Wynne,Jr. (who preceded her in death). To this union a family was established with twochildren, Shon Terrell Lloyd and Clydette Sabreea Wynne. Later in their uniontwo children were born: Shavella Banee’ Wynne and Robert Wynne III.In September 1989, Sylvia and Robert joined New Bethel M.B. Church in SanDiego, California after Robert Wynne accepted his calling of God and was licensedto preach the gospel.In 1992, Sylvia and Robert moved their family to Jackson, Mississippi, where theyjoined the Smith Chapel M.B. Church in Flora, Mississippi. In November 1993,she stood by her husband when he was ordained to preach the gospel at SmithChapel M.B. Church under the leadership of Pastor Charles Simmons.On June 13, 1997, God call Robert as Pastor and Sylvia as First Lady over theflock at the Good Samaritan M.B. Church in Flora, Mississippi. They both calledthis Church home until Robert’s health failed him.In late 2014, Sylvia and her family joined the Higher Ground Family WorshipCenter following the loss of her beloved husband Robert.In early 2017, Sylvia retired from her employment at Jackson State University asan Executive Administration Assistant. She loved her job and her interaction withfaculty, students and staff.Later in 2017, Sylvia decided to return to the west coast. She moved her family toMaricopa, Arizona to be closer to family and friends.Sylvia loved God, life, and family and she did her best to impart God’s word andwisdom into the life of her children, grandchildren, extended family and friends.On March 2, 2018, God called Sylvia home. She is now free of pain and at peace.While we cherish her life and legacy of love and memories, the following loved onesbow their heads in humble submission to God who can do no wrong: Her son, ShonT. Lloyd, II,Terryn, Alexis, Charles, Zariha, Asijah, Kaycee, Kali, and Robert Wynne IV;mother, Sylvia Brookins of San Diego, CA; brother; Cecil Brookins (Kathleen) ofLas Vegas, NV; brother,Ronald Brookins (Pamela) of San Diego, CA; brother,Kenneth Brookins (Carol) of San Diego, CA; brother, Virgil Brookins (Julieta) ofCasa Grande, AZ; sisters-in-law, Carol Brookins of Meridian, MS; Rosie Sandersof Pasadena, CA; Tina Wynne of Los Angeles, CA; Loraine Dale (Maurice) ofJackson, MS; Tillie Austin of Maryland; brothers-in-law; Albert Sanders (Joan) ofPasadena, CA; Robert Sanders of Pasadena, CA; Carl Divens (Arnitra) of WestCovina, CA; Robert Austin of Jackson, MS, Jimmy Austin of Maryland, JewelBraxton of CA; stepmother–in-law, Elizabeth Wynne of Maryland; and a host ofnieces, nephews and many other family, friends and loved ones.
