“A TIME TO BE BORN…” ECCLESIASTES 3:2Tamara Nekeda Dodd was the second child born toWilliam and Mary Dodd in Vicksburg, Mississippi, onNovember 7, 1973. Her brother Maurice Yamond Doddpreceded her in death. “TRAIN UP A CHILD…” PROVERBS 22:6As a child Tamara professed a strong belief inChrist and united with Mount Vernon M.B.Church under the tutelage of Pastor SamuelThompson. Her formal education was obtainedthrough the public schools of Yazoo City and,in 1992, she graduated from Yazoo City HighSchool. Tamara’s zest for learning and strongsense of purpose and passion propelled her tothe next level of education, where she enrolledin and graduated from Mississippi Valley StateUniversity in 1996, in Itta Bena, MS. While atMVSU, Tamara fulfilled one of her dreams, which was to become amember of the sisterhood of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority,Incorporated in the Fall of 1993.After graduating from Mississippi Valley StateUniversity in 1996, Tamara relocated toNashville, TN and made her home there for 12years. Tamara was employed with the State ofTennessee Board of Higher Education. In muchprayer, Tamara sought the Lord and enrolled inVanderbilt University located in Nashville,Tennessee, where she received her Master ofDivinity. In her later years, Tamara obtained theposition as an Associate Minister for FamilyWorship Center in Yazoo City, MS, under theleadership of Pastor Eric Barnes. “A TIME TO DIE…” ECCLESIASTES 3:2On Sunday, November 11, 2018 at 11:30 p.m., Tamara made apeaceful transition from this life and was born into eternity. Tocherish her memory, she leaves a loving and supportive father andmother, William and Mary Dodd of Yazoo City, MS; one sister,Zelphia Dunbar (Morris) of Warner Robbins, GA; Five aunts:Florence Burks Prentiss (John) of Clarksdale, MS , Shirley Burks ofIndianola, MS, Venetta Burks Taylor (Robert) of Kathleen, GA,Ruby Burks of Vicksburg, MS and Bertha Burks of Edwards, MS;Four Uncles: Steve Burks, Jr (Martha) of Chicago, IL, PastorPhillips Burks (Patricia) and Melvin Burks (Daisy) of Edwards, MSand William Donald Clark of Clarksdale, MS; Three nieces,Morrissa, Christian, and Olivia Dunbarof Warner Robbins, GA; Two nephews;Maurice Yamond Dodd II and MaceBlair Dodd of Nashville, TN and onegreat-nephew Zachary Dunbar ofWarner Robbins, GA; one great-aunt,Ethel Mace of Indianapolis, IN, andone great-uncle, Huey Mace ofVicksburg, MS, as well as a host of cousins and friends.
