Varnado Haralson, Sr. was born April 17, 1926 to the union of DeeQuincy Haralson, Sr. and Lydia Haralson. He received his formaleducation from Pigeon School of Bentonia, MS.He confessed his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized atPleasant Grove Church of Bentonia, MS.Varnardo, Sr. served in the United States Armed Forces (Army) fromAugust 25, 1944 to September 5, 1946 during which time he fought inWorld War II. His Decorations and Citations received were:Asiatic/Pacific Campaign Ribbon, Philippine Independence Ribbon,Conduct Medal, Victory Ribbon, and two (2) Overseas Service Bars.He joined Odessa (Dess) Moore in holy matrimony on December 23,1950.. And to their union, eight children were born. He was employedby MS Chemical Industrial Corporation, AMCO, Deposit GuaranteeBank, and Shaffer & Collins Funeral Home, Inc.Varnado, Sr. departed his earthly life on April 10, 2018. He waspreceded in death by his parents: Dee Quincy Sr. (Lydia) Haralson;wife, Odessa (Dess) Haralson; two sons, Allen Haralson and VarnardoHaralson Jr.; brothers, Floyd “Buddy” Haralson and Dee Quincy(Junior) Haralson Jr.; sisters, Sally Williams, Annie Hubbard, LucyGriffin, and Frances Robinson.He leaves to cherish his memory: Sister, Inola Hearn; Brother, WilliamHaralson, Sr.; God-sister: Mildred Drew Brown, Children: WillieAlvin Haralson, Barbara Haralson-Bilogubka; Boris, Glenn Haralson,Edward Haralson; Derlyn, Linda Haralson, Floyd Haralson; Deidra,Deborah Haralson-Daughter-in-law, God-daughter Belinda (Faye)Smith and a host of Grands, Great- Grands, Great-Great Grands,Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, Family and Friends.
